48 Hours in Los Angeles

Yes, I am that crazy woman who thought that 48 hours in Los Angeles was a good idea, but when your best friend gives you the opportunity to go on a work trip with her you just can’t say no! I’m all about taking these opportunities.

We arrived in Los Angeles in the afternoon and made our way to her hotel and got ready for an evening out at the Ivy Restaurant in Los Angeles. This restaurant is a must do, particularly if you are on a girly trip. It’s full of beautiful florals EVERYWHERE and their great choice of background music provides such a chilled atmosphere. We had a table outside which was right next to the path and great to watch the world go by. We arrived to a complimentary glass of champagne which was a lovely surprise. The service and food was AMAZING – we had the Guacamole with homemade tortillas followed by the Ivy Cobb Salad (Baby Lettuce, Beets, Avocado, Tomato, Eggs, Neuske's Bacon, Roasted Free Range Turkey Breast & Pt. Reyes, Blue Cheese) the portions are huge as always so we decided to share and this was a good decision. I’m a dessert girl so to finish, I had three of their homemade ice creams/sorbets which were out of this world.

We hit our wall once we had finished our meal here so we decided to go back to the hotel and get a good night sleep for our busy day ahead.

We woke up the next day, hit Starbucks up and went to the nearest metro station to make our way to Santa Monica. The train was definitely the cheapest and quickest option (7 dollars for a day pass). We took a walk along the beach and went for brunch. We ended up in ‘Herringbone’ a really cool botanical style restaurant not far from the beach. The food and drinks here were really tasty and it was also reasonably priced. If you like industrial style restaurants this is the place for you.

Following our brunch we made our way back to the beach and sat for an hour watching dolphins swim past which of course made this animal lovers day.

We walked for an hour up to Venice Beach, which was far more interesting then I could of ever expected and there are lots of quirky beach shops along the way. The nearest metro station to here is the Santa Monica one which takes about an hour to walk back to.

Our dinner location on this evening was 'PUMP' which again is perfect for those on a girly trip. We sat outside under a covered area which was full of twinkling lights and Moroccan style cushions. We had very good food here – again the portions are large! I’d recommend making your way to the bar area after dinner to have a couple of drinks or like in our case stay until it closes.

On the final day we went to the Griffith Observatory which was not only a beautiful building but also gave us amazing views of downtown Los Angeles and of the ‘Hollywood’ sign. This is the perfect place to stop if you don’t have much time to spare but also want to see L.A. from above. This was the final stop before making our way back to the airport.
