Our couple J&T held their tropical French chic wedding in the French countryside of Dordogne at the beautiful venue of La Leotardie. They hosted 120 guests on the day and wanted it to be a fun and relaxed occasion to reflect their personality.
Our bride wanted a nod to her African heritage so the wedding was based on bright colours of corals, pinks, and red tones along with tropical flowers and green foliage whilst still bringing in a romantic French vibe.
As guests arrived onsite they were met with rosé granitas served in vintage champagne coupes which was very much needed to keep cool in the 44C degree heat. The ceremony took place under a 400 year old oak tree with a beautiful personalised ceremony conducted by a celebrant. After the ceremony & confetti line, the newlyweds led their loved ones down a path to the drinks reception area and whilst on the way were surprised by saxophonist ‘Ellie Sax’.
Ajna from Oui Mon Coeur worked alongside the couple for the styling of their wedding day and worked with some beautiful bright colours. The linen was kept simple white for the copper cutlery, coral napkins, watercolour stationery, and tasselled place cards to bring in that wow factor. Bud vases of tropical flowers were placed along the tables with different styles of candle holders and pink, red, and coral pillar candles. For the favors small pots of honey were on each place setting covered in a fabric from South Africa.
In keeping with local tradition, J&T chose a French croquembouche tower for their wedding dessert; profiteroles in coffee, vanilla, and chocolate flavours were presented with sparklers. After the couple's first dance to "Higher Love" on a Moroccan style rug in the courtyard, the party moved into the barn, where the band and Ellie Sax kept the party going for the rest of the night.
The venues old-fashioned stone barn was turned into a fun party room with sparkling gold disco balls hanging from the ceiling, and a bespoke neon sign showing off the lyrics to the brides favourite song.
HOLLY PROVED HER WEIGHT IN GOLD
We were introduced to Holly mid-way through our wedding planning. Whilst we knew we always wanted a Destination Wedding Planner, our plans took on a life of their own and lead us to Wonderlust a little down the line and I have to say, I’m so grateful they did.
From the initial call and throughout the entire process, Holly proved her weight in gold by being proactive, efficient and incredibly on top of her game while also ensuring what you are looking for and have agreed with your vendors comes through. From the contractual details that we wouldn’t have thought to question to the fun WhatsApp group that gave us butterflies where we shared excited wedding emojis and motivational pick-ups that you may need along the way as a couple. Holly was everything like that and more.
What I think is incredibly important to think about when picking your wedding planner is how they will actually react when dealing with a crisis. Our wedding was so well organised that I never foresaw any issues but when the French sun decided to excel all of our expectations and it actually be too hot, Holly was gracious, calm and more than anything so cool. She made the day flow so smoothly that no guest realised that the order of events had in fact changed. Still to this day, nearly a year on and our guests are still talking about ‘the best’ wedding they ever went to and we put that down to our amazing team and the organisation and coordination that Holly brought.
